Balanced Scoring Lifts GTCC Past Richard Bland, 71–61
The Guilford Technical Community College women’s basketball team delivered a complete team performance Tuesday night, defeating Richard Bland College 71–61 behind efficient shooting and strong work on the glass.
GTCC shot 46 percent from the field and an impressive 58 percent from three-point range, knocking down seven triples while controlling the boards with 44 total rebounds.
Sophomore guard Roselyn Sanchez led the way offensively with 14 points, connecting on two three-pointers and adding three assists. Sophomore guard Isabell Berhe matched her with 14 points of her own, going 4-for-6 from beyond the arc to stretch the defense and spark key scoring runs.
Inside, freshman Bailey Dutton contributed seven points and seven rebounds, while sophomore Onisty Jones added five boards and three points. Sophomore guard Jewel Pass filled the stat sheet with six points, four rebounds, three assists, and two steals.
The Titans’ bench made a significant impact. Freshman Nevaeh Dobson recorded a double-double effort on the boards with 10 rebounds and nine points, providing physicality and second-chance opportunities. Sophomore Bethani Overby added 11 points and two blocks, while freshman Aryanna McClean chipped in seven points and five rebounds to keep momentum on GTCC’s side.
Richard Bland was led by Grace Riggs’ 17 points, but the Titans’ depth and efficiency proved to be the difference. GTCC’s 14 offensive rebounds created extra possessions, and the team converted 75 percent of its free throws down the stretch to secure the win.
With balanced scoring, strong rebounding, and timely shooting, GTCC continues to build momentum as the season progresses.
