Titans Power Past Catawba Valley Behind Balanced Attack and Defensive Grit
The Guilford Technical Community College women’s basketball team battled their way to a 63–53 victory over Catawba Valley, using depth, grit, and a strong second-half push to secure the win.
GTCC shot over 41% from the field and controlled the glass with 41 total rebounds, setting the tone early with physical defense and steady offensive execution.
Aryanna McClean led the way with a team-high 15 points, attacking the rim and knocking down clutch free throws down the stretch. Jewel Pass added 13 points, while Roselyn Sanchez contributed 11 along with four assists, helping orchestrate the offense.
The Titans’ bench proved to be a difference-maker. Nevaeh Dobson added eight points and eight rebounds, and Bethani Overby made her presence known defensively with three blocks. GTCC totaled five blocks as a team, protecting the paint and forcing tough shots all night.
Catawba Valley was led by Ja’Nya Wiley’s 15 points and Jordyn Adams’ 13, but GTCC’s balanced scoring and rebounding advantage made the difference. The Titans finished with 24 made field goals and stayed aggressive inside, capitalizing on second-chance opportunities.
With strong team defense, timely scoring, and contributions up and down the roster, GTCC secured a hard-earned conference win and continues to build momentum as the season rolls on.
