Guilford Technical Community College put together one of its most complete performances of the season on Saturday, using efficient scoring and disciplined defense to secure a 63–58 road victory over Richard Bland College. The Titans shot an impressive 45.5 percent from the field and held Richard Bland to just 25.6 percent shooting in a game defined by toughness, composure, and timely plays on both ends.
GTCC was powered by a dominant backcourt outing from Jewel Pass, who delivered a season-high 18 points on 8-for-14 shooting, including two three-pointers. Pass attacked the rim relentlessly, distributed effectively, and anchored the offense from the opening tip. Her ability to break down the defense helped GTCC maintain control throughout a game in which every possession mattered.
Inside, Nevaeh Dobson was a force. The sophomore forward posted 16 points and a team-high eight rebounds, finishing 6-for-11 from the floor while adding a block and providing crucial interior stability. Dobson’s physicality on the boards helped GTCC withstand Richard Bland’s 78 shot attempts and multiple second-chance pushes.
The Titans also benefitted from meaningful production off the bench. Bethani Overby added 10 points and three rebounds, scoring efficiently at 5-for-10 while offering a spark in transition. Melody Johnson chipped in four points and three rebounds, and Onisty Jones knocked down a key first-half three that helped GTCC build early momentum.
Defensively, GTCC delivered one of its strongest outings of the season. The Titans held Richard Bland to just 28.6 percent from three and forced 25 turnovers, using pressure and physicality to disrupt the Statesmen’s rhythm throughout all four quarters. GTCC’s ability to contest shots without fouling proved decisive as Richard Bland attempted to close the gap late behind the scoring of Hazel Veloz and Micala Poe.
Despite shooting just 41.7 percent from the free-throw line, the Titans’ field-goal efficiency and resilience in the paint carried them through the final minutes. GTCC controlled the tempo, secured key rebounds, and made enough late stops to close out the road victory.
The win marks a strong momentum boost for GTCC as the season progresses.
The Titans return to action Wednesday, December 11, traveling to face Louisburg College at 5 p.m.
