Titans Battle but Fall 94–76 at Louisburg College
Guilford Technical Community College put together one of its grittiest defensive performances of the season, holding Fayetteville Technical CC to just 38 shot attempts, but the Trojans’ efficiency proved the difference as GTCC came up just short in a 63–58 road loss Saturday afternoon.
Guilford Technical Community College put together one of its strongest offensive outings of the season, but a hot-shooting Louisburg College team proved too much to contain as the Titans dropped a 94–76 road contest on Saturday.
GTCC opened the game with energy behind standout performances from its starting group. Jordan Weaver led the Titans with an efficient 25 points, shooting an impressive 11-for-16 from the field while adding seven rebounds, two assists, and two blocks. His aggressive play in the paint kept GTCC within striking distance throughout the first half.
The Titans also saw dynamic scoring from Nikel Rodgers, who poured in 16 points and knocked down four three-pointers. Rodgers paired his scoring with a strong defensive effort, pulling down eight boards. Osiris Peralta added 13 points and six rebounds, while Mike Cade contributed 12 points and a team-high five assists.
GTCC shot 47.5 percent from the floor and a strong 80 percent from the free-throw line, converting 16 of its 20 attempts. Despite the Titans’ efficient shooting, Louisburg countered with a high-powered offensive performance. The Hurricanes shot 52.2 percent and placed five players in double figures, led by Isaiah Smith’s 27 points and Kristian Hodges’ 18 off the bench.
Louisburg’s depth proved decisive, as its bench outscored GTCC’s reserves 39–10. The Titans continued to battle throughout the second half, with Weaver’s finishing inside and timely perimeter scoring from Rodgers keeping the margin within reach, but Louisburg’s rebounding advantage and transition play created late separation.
GTCC returns to action on Tuesday, December 9 at 3 p.m., traveling to take on Wake Technical Community College.
