The Guilford Technical Community College men’s basketball team competed with energy and resilience but fell to a hot-shooting Davidson-Davie Community College squad, 101–64.
Davidson-Davie set the tone early with efficient shooting and strong ball movement, finishing the night at 57.7% from the field and recording 24 assists. The Storm were led by Nijel Howard, who posted a dominant double-double with 25 points and 11 rebounds, while Conall Lowry added 18 points off the bench. Dane Stewart contributed 14 points and Dre Huff chipped in 15 to help maintain the offensive momentum.
GTCC was paced by Mike Webster, who led the Titans with 17 points, attacking the basket and knocking down timely shots. Nikel Rodgers delivered an efficient performance, shooting a perfect 5-for-5 from the field and 4-for-4 from three-point range to finish with 15 points. Mike Cade added 12 points and four assists, providing steady leadership in the backcourt.
Despite the final score, the Titans showed flashes of strong play, particularly from beyond the arc where they matched Davidson-Davie’s three-point percentage at 36.8%. GTCC also fought on the defensive end, forcing turnovers and battling in the paint against a deep Storm rotation.
As the game progressed, Davidson-Davie’s depth and rebounding advantage allowed them to extend their lead in the second half.
The Titans will look to regroup and build on their shooting efficiency and individual performances as they prepare for their next matchup.
