Nikel Rodgers Breaks NJCAA Record with 17 Threes in Titans’ 105–68 Rout
History was made as Nikel Rodgers delivered one of the most electric performances ever seen at the junior college level, setting the NJCAA single-game record with 17 three-pointers in Guilford Technical Community College’s dominant 105–68 victory over Pitt Community College.
Rodgers was simply unstoppable, finishing 17-of-23 from beyond the arc and pouring in 54 points. From the opening minutes, he found rhythm and range, stretching the defense deeper and deeper with every possession. By halftime, the gym buzzed with anticipation. By the second half, it was history in the making.
GTCC shot an impressive 50 percent from three as a team, but Rodgers’ performance stood alone. Every catch felt dangerous. Every release felt automatic. His 54-point explosion accounted for more than half of the Titans’ scoring and electrified both the bench and the crowd.
The supporting cast made sure the moment translated into a complete team win. Mike Webster added 23 points and 11 assists, orchestrating the offense and repeatedly finding Rodgers in rhythm. Jordan Weaver contributed nine rebounds, while Mike Cade and Tyren Martin combined for 14 assists to keep the ball moving.
Defensively, the Titans forced tough looks and controlled the tempo, holding Pitt to just 32 percent shooting from the field. GTCC’s 32 assists on 40 made field goals highlighted the team’s unselfish play throughout the night.
While the 105–68 win was emphatic, the story belongs to Rodgers. Seventeen made three-pointers — a new NJCAA record — cements his place in the national spotlight and adds a historic chapter to the GTCC basketball program.
On a night that will be remembered for years to come, Nikel Rodgers didn’t just shoot the lights out — he rewrote the record books.
