Mike Webster’s 27 Leads GTCC in 90–87 Battle Over Fayetteville Tech
The Guilford Technical CC men’s basketball team outlasted Fayetteville Technical CC in a hard-fought 90–87 victory, using efficient shooting and clutch free throws to close out a tight contest.
Sophomore guard Mike Webster delivered a standout performance, pouring in 27 points on an impressive 11-of-15 shooting. Webster attacked the rim consistently and added four made free throws to anchor the Titans’ offense.
Freshman guard Tyren Martin followed with 17 points, knocking down eight of 10 from the free throw line while adding six rebounds and a block. Sophomore guard Nikel Rodgers also finished with 17 points, connecting on four three-pointers to stretch the defense and provide timely scoring runs.
Sophomore guard Mike Cade controlled the pace of the game, contributing 11 points, seven assists, and three steals, while freshman forward Jordan Weaver added seven rebounds and three blocks to protect the paint. Off the bench, freshman Braeden Lamb gave the Titans a spark with 10 points and three rebounds in key minutes.
GTCC shot over 50 percent from the field and nearly 80 percent from the free throw line, converting 19 of 24 attempts. Those free throws proved critical down the stretch as Fayetteville Tech stayed within striking distance.
Fayetteville was led by Xavier Whitaker’s 21 points and strong interior play from Trevion Lewis and Ray Mitchell, but the Titans’ balanced scoring and efficient offense made the difference.
In a game defined by momentum swings and clutch execution, GTCC showed poise in the final minutes to secure the narrow victory and continue building confidence as the season progresses.
