Titans Win Big on Titan Night
GTCC Explodes for 15 Runs in Dominant Win Over Patrick & Henry
Guilford Technical Community College left no doubt on the field, erupting for 15 runs in a commanding offensive showcase to defeat Patrick & Henry Community College.
Patrick & Henry struck first in the opening inning when Josh Hall Jr. delivered an RBI single to bring home Bryson Redmond. But any early momentum was quickly erased.
GTCC answered immediately and then some.
In the bottom of the first, Joseph Buckley got things rolling with a two-RBI single, followed by an RBI double from Andre Mason to give GTCC control of the game early. From there, the floodgates opened.
Elijah Grant put together a massive performance, scoring four runs and launching a home run in the second inning to extend the lead. He was a constant problem on the basepaths, swiping two bags and reaching base three times.
The third inning is where GTCC completely blew the game open.
Brayden Winters ripped a two-RBI double, and moments later, chaos took over. A wild pitch brought in another run, followed by a defensive miscue that allowed two more to score. Bryce Meachem continued his standout day with an RBI groundout, and then Jason Johnson delivered the knockout blow — a three-run homer to left field that capped a huge inning and put the game out of reach.
Meachem finished with a team-high three RBIs, while Johnson matched him with three of his own thanks to the long ball. Buckley added two RBIs, and Mason chipped in with a run-scoring double as GTCC tallied 13 RBIs on the day.
On the mound, GTCC was just as sharp.
Carter Batts earned the win, allowing just two runs (one earned) over two innings. Timothy Barry followed with a dominant three-inning relief appearance, striking out seven and allowing just one hit while shutting the door completely.
Patrick & Henry managed just three hits on the day, with Dylan Howell accounting for one of the few bright spots with an RBI double. Despite scoring three runs, they struggled to generate consistent offense and were unable to keep pace with GTCC’s relentless attack.
With a balanced offensive explosion and lockdown pitching, GTCC delivered one of their most complete performances of the season — overwhelming Patrick & Henry from start to finish.
