Titans Salvage One Game in Series with Cleveland
Game 1
Early Surge Lifts Cleveland Past Titans, 13–1
Guilford Technical Community College ran into a hot Cleveland Community College lineup that erupted early and never looked back in a 13–1 contest.
Cleveland wasted no time at the plate, capitalizing on early opportunities to build momentum. Walker Hartley led the charge with three RBIs, while Tanner Britt added three more — including a triple — to pace the offensive attack. Lawson Powell and Alex McKee also drove in key runs as Cleveland totaled 11 hits and 13 runs in just five innings.
The Titans struggled to slow the early surge. Carmine Lancaster took the start and worked through two innings, while Dawson Futrell and Logan Stump provided relief. Despite competitive moments on the mound, Cleveland consistently found timely hits to extend innings and create separation.
Offensively, GTCC was limited to just two hits on the afternoon. Dylan Rose recorded an RBI single to account for the Titans’ lone run, while Brayden Winters added the team’s other hit. Elijah Grant created some pressure on the bases with two stolen bases, but the Titans were unable to string together sustained offense against Cleveland’s Charlie Collins, who struck out five over five innings.
GTCC drew three walks and had a few chances to push across additional runs, but Cleveland’s defense and steady pitching prevented any major rally.
