Game 1
Titans Ride Hot Bats to 11–5 Victory Over Surry Knights
The Guilford Technical Community College baseball team put together a strong all-around performance, defeating the Surry Knights 11–5 behind timely hitting and solid bullpen work.
GTCC wasted no time setting the tone, collecting 14 hits and jumping out early against the Knights’ pitching staff. Sophomore shortstop Dylan Rose led the charge, going 3-for-5 with a home run, a double, and three RBIs. Rose also swiped a base and scored twice, creating pressure from the top of the lineup.
Sophomore second baseman Evan Britt added power of his own, launching a home run and driving in two runs as part of a 2-for-4 day. Redshirt freshman utility player Will Beck stayed hot at the plate, recording two hits, including a double, and driving in two runs. Sophomore outfielder Andre Mason contributed two hits and three RBIs, including a sacrifice fly to extend the Titans’ lead.
Sophomore center fielder Elijah Grant reached base four times, collecting two hits and drawing two walks while stealing two bases to keep the Knights’ defense on edge.
On the mound, sophomore right-hander Carmine Lancaster got the start, working three innings while allowing four runs. Freshman right-hander Graham Sutherland entered in relief and earned the win, tossing three strong innings and allowing just one run while striking out three. Freshman right-hander Elliot Flowers closed out the game with a clean inning to secure the victory.
Despite eight hits from Surry, including a home run from Carter Hayes, the Titans maintained control thanks to balanced offense and timely pitching. GTCC also turned a defensive double play to help limit damage.
With disciplined at-bats, aggressive base running, and steady relief work, the Titans secured an 11–5 win and continue building momentum as the season progresses.
Game 2
Rose’s Two-Homer Night Not Enough as Titans Fall to Surry, 12–8
The Guilford Technical Community College baseball team battled at the plate, but Surry Knights capitalized on key moments to hand the Titans a 12–8 loss.
Sophomore shortstop Dylan Rose delivered a standout performance, blasting two home runs and finishing 3-for-4 with two RBIs and three runs scored. Rose ignited the offense early and continued to apply pressure throughout the game, also swiping a base to keep the defense on edge.
Sophomore outfielder Andre Mason added a big swing of his own, launching a three-run homer and drawing two walks in a productive night at the plate. Freshman outfielder Brayden Winters collected two hits and drove in a run, while redshirt freshman catcher Niko Michaelides doubled and brought home two RBIs to keep the Titans within striking distance.
GTCC totaled eight hits and five walks, showing patience despite 10 strikeouts against the Knights’ pitching staff.
On the mound, freshman right-hander Zach Cartrette took the loss, allowing six runs over three innings, though only two were earned. Redshirt freshman Carter Batts followed with 2.2 innings of work, surrendering just one earned run despite Surry stringing together hits. Freshman Dawson Futrell recorded the final out in relief.
Surry capitalized on timely hitting, collecting 11 hits, including a home run from Conner Robertson and a pair of doubles from Nohr Issa. Defensive miscues also proved costly, as GTCC committed three errors that allowed the Knights to extend innings.
Despite the loss, the Titans showcased power and resilience at the plate. With Rose and Mason providing offensive sparks and multiple hitters contributing, GTCC will look to tighten up defensively and bounce back in their next matchup.
