Baseball Sweeps SWVCC in Dominating Fashion
Titans Sweep Southwest Virginia in High-Scoring Series
Guilford Technical Community College put together a dominant three-game stretch, sweeping Southwest Virginia behind explosive offense and consistent production throughout the lineup.
GTCC opened the series with a 16–5 win, using patience at the plate and aggressive baserunning to take control early. The Titans drew 10 walks and capitalized on defensive miscues, while Brock Welch powered the offense with a home run and two RBIs. Elijah Grant added three hits and two RBIs, and Brayden Winters scored three times as GTCC piled up 16 runs on 10 hits.
The momentum carried into game two, where the Titans secured a 13–3 victory behind another balanced offensive performance. Dylan Rose led the way with a home run and two RBIs, while Andre Mason, Trey Costner, and Bryce Meachem each drove in two runs. On the mound, Graham Sutherland set the tone, allowing just two runs over four innings while striking out three, as GTCC held Southwest Virginia to only three hits.
The series finale turned into an offensive showcase, with GTCC erupting for 21 runs in a 21–9 win. Brock Welch delivered a standout performance, going 3-for-5 with four RBIs, while Andre Mason matched him with four RBIs of his own, including a home run. Brayden Winters added four hits and two RBIs, and Trey Costner scored four runs and drove in three as the Titans racked up 17 hits.
Across all three games, GTCC’s offense proved relentless, combining for 50 runs and consistently applying pressure through disciplined at-bats and timely hitting. The Titans showcased their depth and firepower throughout the series, completing a convincing sweep over Southwest Virginia.
