Titans Fall in High-Scoring Battle with Gaston, 17–14
The Guilford Technical Community College Titans battled in a back-and-forth offensive showdown but ultimately fell to Gaston College 17–14 in an extra-inning contest.
The game featured explosive offense from both sides, with the two teams combining for 31 runs and 31 hits over 11 innings.
GTCC showed resilience throughout the game, responding to early pressure and producing several big swings. Trey Costner led the Titans’ offense with a standout performance, going 3-for-5 with four runs scored, two RBIs, and a home run.
Brock Welch also delivered a strong outing at the plate, finishing 3-for-6 with a home run and three RBIs, while Evan Britt contributed three hits, including three doubles, and two RBIs.
The Titans displayed their power throughout the lineup, blasting four home runs in the game. Bryce Meachem, Colin Georger, Costner, and Welch each went deep as GTCC kept pace with Gaston’s offense.
GTCC also applied pressure on the bases, recording five stolen bases from Dylan Rose (2), Elijah Grant (2), and Andre Mason.
Despite the offensive effort, Gaston’s lineup proved difficult to contain. Joey Nicholson homered and drove in three runs, while Caden Davidson collected three hits and two RBIs. Trey Hitchcock added two home runs and two RBIs to help power Gaston’s attack.
On the mound, the Titans saw innings from Grady Barnes, Tucker Hobbs, Trajan Louis, Graham Sutherland, Zach Cartrette, and Timothy Barry during the extended game.
GTCC’s offense continued to battle until the final innings, but Gaston was able to pull away late to secure the 17–14 victory.
